How to choose your Wedding Photographer

Your wedding photographer has a very important job, they are the people you entrust with capturing your precious wedding day memories. Memories that you want to last a lifetime. Therefore it is crucial that you make the right choice. These are the 3 most important questions you need to ask yourself.

 1. Do you like their work?

2. Do you get on with the photographer?

3. Does the photographer suit your budget?

“Nowadays with the internet you have the photographers portfolios at your fingertips. The photographers should have some of their best images displayed, so my advice is to find a photographer whose photographs you love in the first instance.” Kt

 1. Do you like their work?

If you do then the next step would be to dig a little deeper. Wedding photographers are creative and love creating those fabulous romantic fun or contemporary shots that you have been looking at on their website, BUT you need to be able to see a whole real wedding to establish that they are also taking care with the getting ready ceremony group and reportage shots that add to the chapters in your wedding story. Make an appointment to see them at their studio, most photographers offer a web viewing system for their couples, request to see some of these, taking note of the groups and other moments throughout the day. Look at some finished albums to see how the photographs look when printed and ask about different options available to you.

2. Do you get on with the photographer?

Many couples visit wedding fairs, you may have met this wonderful chatty person on a photography stand, who you clicked with (excuse the pun). IS THIS THE PERSON WHO WILL BE PHOTOGRAPHING YOU? Sometimes NO it isn’t. When you arrange to meet to view some more samples of work, make sure that the person you are seeing is the principal photographer that is available to photograph your wedding day. Now ask yourself would I want this person at my wedding. The industry has a reputation for being rude bossy and arrogant, unfortunately photographers like these are still in existence. Yes we have a job to do a very important job, but there is never any excuse for rudeness or arrogance. Make sure that you choose a photographer who will work with you and make your wedding day photography a added highlight to your super special day. The best images are always the ones where you feel happy and relaxed, therefore you need to feel comfortable with your wedding photographer.

3. Does the Photographer suit your budget?

Unless you have won the Euro Millions or are in a situation where money is not a issue, price will undoubtedly need to be factored in. Of course none of us want to pay over the odds nor indeed cut corners on the photos… those only permanent precious mementos.
